    The English helped Siddi Johar procure long range guns to attack the fort of Panhala. Once Shivaji saw the long range guns he knew he couldn’t hold on to the fort for long. Gangadhar Pant climbed down from the fort and told Siddi Johar that Shivaji was ready to surrender. No terms. He also spread this news in the entire camp. The army rejoiced like there was no tomorrow. Shivaji escaped in the night along with 700 Maratha warriors.
